Milan suffers another Serie A stumble
ROME: AC Milan continued its early season stumble through Serie A with a
disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Parma on Saturday.
Milan was targeting the win that would have hoisted them to second place
behind league leaders Roma and ahead of Inter Milan, Napoli and Juventus.
Clarence Seedorf opened the scoring for Carlo Ancelotti's side in the
44th minute, but the curse of the late equaliser struck the European
champions once again when Andrea Pisanu levelled in the 73rd minute.
Milan now boast an unenvious three draws from four league games so far.
It took a late equaliser from Alessandro Nesta last week away to Siena to
rescue a point, and the week before Fiorentina claimed a share of the
points at the San Siro.
Messi ensures perfect Nou Camp anniversary
MADRID: Barcelona celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Camp Nou Stadium
on Saturday and Argentine sensation Lionel Messi ensured the party
continued all night scoring twice to sink title rivals Sevilla 2-1.
Sevilla looked set to spoil the Camp Nou party but Messi scored his first
goal of the season in the 73rd minute and then converted a penalty six
minutes later to push Barcelona up to second in the table, just one point
behind leaders Real Madrid, who has a game in hand.
The victory was welcome relief for Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard who was
under mounting pressure after an indifferent start to the season with
speculation that Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, who left Chelsea this
week, is being lined up as his successor.

US college coach inks China exchange deal
NEW YORK: University of Memphis basketball coach John Calipari and
Chinese Basketball Association officials have struck a deal that could
boost China's awareness of US college teams, the New York Times reported.
The deal includes Calipari, a former National Basketball Association
coach with the New Jersey Nets, overseeing a set of camps and clinics
across China for the next five years.
"We're basically putting together an exchange program," he said.
The Chinese Basketball Association will select 15 men's and women's
coaches to go to Memphis for 10 days next month to learn from Calipari
and his coaching staff with the Tigers, a perennial power in Calipari's
seven Memphis seasons.
Kirilenko ready to leave rich NBA deal: report
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah: Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko is set to walk
away from the remaining $63 million of his National Basketball
Association contract, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Friday.
After translating an interview given to Russia's Sport Express newspaper,
the Tribune reported Kirilenko said he is ready to leave the NBA and
would most like to play in Moscow, leaving behind his big-money deal for
his homeland.
"I am prepared to go without it," the Tribune quotes Kirilenko as saying.
"This is a lot of money, even for an NBA club. So what? Maybe this money
could go to pay for more players or for something else.
"I have never been unfair and I don't want to enjoy something that I
don't deserve. Big money is obviously good but I'm prepared to make less.
The size of my salary doesn't mean that much to me. The main thing is to
play with a spark.
"I am ready for anything. I just need to leave Utah Jazz."
