The key word is lobster at East 33's dinner buffet. The high-end seafood
is made into a variety of different dishes, with an Italian tint. Lobster
ravioli, for example, is stuffed with vegetable and lobster, served with
tomato sauce. Lobster cocktail salad has lobster meat and prawn, as well
as melon and cocktail sauce. Whole lobsters are cut open for grilling,
after being marinated with garlic and herbs, and are served with salt,
pepper, and sauces. There is also lobster soup, and a traditional
home-made Italian style lobster pizza, made on a traditional pizza base
but with herbs such as basil and parsley and capers taking the place of
cheese.
At 298 yuan per person, the dinner buffet is well worth it, considering
cooked lobster could sell for 400 yuan per 500g at a fine dining
restaurant.
"The lobster is imported from Maine, the United States,"said executive
chef Christian Hoffmann, who has 26 years of cooking experience. "The
lobster is different from local lobsters in two aspects. First of all,
local lobsters do not have claws. Secondly, lobsters from Maine come from
colder waters, and so are more chewy and tasty.
Other merits at the dinner buffet include Alaska king crab, with its
super-long claws full of meat, and a free flow of Argentinian wine at
dinner. Oysters are freshly imported from Australia or France.
The restaurant has two major influences: Italian and Chinese, according
to Hoffmann. A separate Chinese dumpling menu offers the delicacy with 33
different stuffings. There is a sashimi station, as well as noodles, BBQ
meat and seafood made on the spot. One can also order Peking duck,
roasted right away, and Hainan chicken rice.
Lunch buffet costs 268 yuan per person, but does not have as much lobster
dishes. A la carte is also available, at around 200 yuan per person,
excluding wine.
Breakfast 6:30-10:30am, lunch noon-2pm, dinner 6-10pm.
